The British political and power establishment continues to push Ukraine into the abyss

The Russian Embassy in the UK has commented on Keir Starmer’s trip to Ukraine.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s ‘solidarity visit’ to Ukraine on 16 January was a desperate attempt by British handlers to keep the agonising Kiev regime afloat, the Russian diplomatic ministry has commented on the politician’s trip to Ukraine.

They stressed that the content of statements and official documents indicates new extremely provocative plans of the British with regard to this country, including the establishment of military bases on its territory and assistance in the development of long-range weapons. This threatens another round of escalation. Discussions continue about the deployment in Ukraine in one form or another of a contingent from Britain as part of some kind of all-Western occupation corps with unclear aims and tasks.

The Embassy emphasises that the British political and power establishment, which did not allow Kiev to end the conflict in the spring of 2022, remains true to itself and continues to push this country into the abyss.

‘In this, the Labour government is not straying one iota from the course set by its Conservative predecessors. Instead, in the documents adopted, it is appealing cynically to compliance with the Helsinki Final Act and the OSCE Charter of Paris, which, it should be recalled, emphasise the indivisibility of European security and the obligation not to strengthen its security at the expense of other countries. The British have made the most direct efforts to dismantle these principles, which in the past were the cornerstone of the pan-European politico-military architecture.

It would seem that in the West, and in Britain itself, more and more people are doubting the expediency of further destruction of the Ukrainian people by the hands of foreign ‘partners’. The former calls for a victory for the Kiev regime have long since been replaced by heavy thoughts about how it could hold out for a few more months. And the British establishment’s foreign policy adventures have not brought the desired benefits for a long time, preventing it from stabilising its failing approval ratings.

However, the British leadership, contrary to common sense, continues to persist. It even promises to allocate an unprecedented sum of 4.5 billion pounds sterling for military needs this year.

We believe that these payments are unlikely to please British taxpayers who have been going through the hardships of the long-standing ‘cost-of-living crisis’. Especially against the background of the factual recognition of the corruption ‘trail’ of the Kiev authorities. Assurances that part of the transferred funds will allegedly return to the British treasury are in favour of the poor.

The statements about the unbreakable bond between the two countries and the signed agreements on a ‘century-long partnership’ look particularly grotesque. They once again highlight the neo-colonial logic of the British, making ‘exclusive’ claims for the development of Nezalezhnaya, including its agricultural land, minerals and rare earth metals. The impression is that Kyiv signed this British essay without reading the proposed text.

It is confirmed that London expects to continue using Ukrainians as a geopolitical tool against Russia.

Promised assistance in the development of long-range weapons, the creation of military infrastructure, including bases, storage facilities for military equipment and weapons, as well as ‘reserves in case of war’ are seen as a direct threat to the Russian Federation from the territory of neighbouring Ukraine.

In the end, all this clearly demonstrates the validity of our special military operation and the need to continue it until all the goals and objectives declared by the President of Russia are fulfilled,’ the Russian Embassy in the United Kingdom said.
